The Blessing in Your Own Evolution

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

The topic of most discussions on all things debatable is Evolution. Evolution originally started as the evolution of Man and of the Earth. How everything came to existence. The most important thing we should be focusing on is the Blessing in our Own Evolution.

The definition of evolution is the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form.

It can also be the changes in the heritable traits of a population.

Okay, so what does this have to do with you and your own evolution?

Your own evolution should be celebrated. Whether you look back over what you’ve been through or where you have come from, there is something to be celebrated. Are you still the infant that depends on your parents, no, the physical, maybe you may still depend on them, and that’s okay, but we are no longer physical babies. Now, spiritually, where are you? Have you just started your journey or are you 10+ years into your walk?

What matters in this celebration is your perspective on your own growth.

I will briefly go over why we must celebrate the blessing in our evolution looking at the areas of losing our old habits, and friends and gaining a new interest in this that not only feed our soul but feed our spirit and all things new that we are looking to experience and develop.

Loss of Old Habits

This is usually the first step in evolving. One day, we suddenly wake up and realize that we no longer like to be around the same people or do the same things. It may even go so far as to discover that we don’t like eating the same type of food. Maybe the food that we have decided that we like actually nourishes our body instead of tearing us down or leading us to the path of disease (Dis-Ease). The topic of disease is something that I could talk about for quite a while but I will leave it at this for the moment.

Suddenly, one day we wake up and realize that we want to be better and do better. We want to be better for ourselves and others that are around us. Maybe there are children looking up to you or someone in a younger generation. There could even be an adult that struggles with their own evolution that may look to you. Don’t fear away from it and walk in this loss with grace. Be thankful and proud for losing interest in the old things that were tearing you down.

Interest in new things

This is intertwined with the last topic of losing old habits. In life, we discover that we seek something new. Something that fulfills us spiritually and physically. Maybe you have found that you cannot start your day without prayer or exercise or cannot end your day without journaling. Do you find yourself blocking more people and removing things of DISinterest from your social media or media in general? Are you still watching thrillers, and reality tv (that messy drama stuff) or are you looking for more documentaries, or finding yourself reading more often? What things are you keeping close to you? What things have become something that you cannot go through your day without?

These are the things that are the food for your growth. Again, do not throw them away or question them, but grab them with grace. Be thankful for interest in new things that you can obviously tell are fueling your growth. If it is not obvious to you what habits are of positive influence in your life, you may need to speak to therapy or seek inside yourself. You may need to ask yourself some really hard questions to decipher what is really meant for your good or what may be a distraction that is taking you away from what is meant for your good.

Something that you may find that is a new habit or interest is, seeking God or spiritual fulfillment. Everyone goes and believes about something different and I am not here to tell you what is right or wrong but only speak on what I believe. What the acceptance of spirituality it is okay to not agree with one thing or the other as the ultimate end result is love. All things return to love as it is the greatest of all. If you believe something different, I still love you. We may not be able to talk on a regular but just know that I still love you. That the ultimate goal in life is love, peace, and happiness for all. For me, I have found that my walk with God is unintentional to my own ways. With this, I also know that God is the head of all things and this blog. God is the one who has provided me with this word after a long break and there was no way that I could keep this to myself. I am not worried about who it will reach as I know it will reach just who it is meant to reach.

Loneliness is a Distraction

The thing about walking with God and feeding your spirit and seeking this growth can also lead to an overwhelming feeling of loneliness. As your walk with God becomes stronger, you begin to realize that you all of a sudden feel lonely. You will want to reach out to old friends as your old life was fun and exciting. It was something to distract you. This is also coming to you now in this stage of your life as a distraction. Loneliness is a very real feeling. It is a tool the enemy uses to distract you from the path that you have begun to travel down. It is meant to make you feel uncomfortable and will want you to sink back into that old life to keep you bound from what you are supposed to be seeking.

It is important that you continue to feed your spirit. God will reward your obedience with things far greater than you can imagine. As I write this, I think over my life and how I recently became distracted by the new environment that seemed to take over my life. I didn't lose interest but it became almost impossible for me to think and connect to my source (GOD) to continue giving the words that I would meditate on. I was soo exhausted that my spirit would just sit and help me navigate through my day-to-day. Today I felt a sudden urge to make sure I listened to my usual sermons as I always do on Sundays. There are always 2 that I absolutely need to fuel my spirit for the upcoming week and all the trials that I may encounter. Through each of those, I felt God speak to me and through me to bring this to whoever needs it. When we seek outside validation and fulfillment it will lead to this season of loneliness. It is also in this season of loneliness that God is working on you. He cannot work on you while you are not available to focus on Him. During this season of your evolution, read your bible, listen to sermons, pray, and meditate on God’s word. Learn to sit in silence so that you can hear God. Learn to decipher God’s voice from the noise that is around you. I have now gotten to this new stage where I seek God in all areas of my life. Whether it be the life my son speaks to me or a song that may come on the radio while my Spotify is on shuffle. I can watch a tv show with my son and now see God in that show. There are spiritual lessons all around us and messages that are sent to us for that moment when we need them. We have to be focused on our spirit so that we may be available to catch when this moment comes to us.

Conclusion

In closing, I want to stress that you cannot be afraid to seek what you are after. If God has spoken to you or you have this crazy idea of opening a business or nonprofit, then pray on it and do it. Step out on faith. God wants his people to open these different outlets so that they can be used for his good. When I originally started this blog, I didn’t really know what I was doing nor how I would go about doing so. I begin to push back on starting it and also wanted everything to be perfect.

The key lesson in this, there only perfect thing is God. All things that are created through God are perfect in His image. You may wonder why it is that I can take almost 6 months off of not releasing content and that’s because this message is just for the person that needs it. Continue to be true to God at every step in your evolution. It is ultimately for God that we begin to evolve. Our spirit needs to be fed and God will begin to require more of us. Our walk with God will not always be like the first day we were introduced to Him. One day if not already, you will encounter death or something traumatic that will make you question your faith and try to push you off your journey to growth. All things that are trying to stop you are distractions.

Be aware of what you keep near and what will distract you from what you should be doing. These are all tools of the enemy who only wants to steal, kill and destroy. Look back over your life and where you have come from. I invite you to make a list of everything that has pushed you to be better and a list of all things that pushed you towards the worst. This may be one of the hardest lists that you have to create but it may be the very thing pushing you to your next level. Making this list and having this moment of opportunity to organize your life and thoughts.

A thought to leave you with, God will not bless what is messy. But will only bless the ordered and ready. If you haven’t started already, clear your path of all things distracting you and walk into the new level of your life. It is time to celebrate the blessing in your evolution.
